WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
Every treatment is performed with disposable sterile tools, and the pigments used are produced to the highest standards (phi brows microblading pigments)
The shape of the eyebrows is designed and measured according to the face.
The pigment is chosen on the day to match the natural eyebrow colour, taking into consideration skin tone and style.
Strokes are always etched in the direction of the natural hair growth to achieve the most natural look.
I use anaesthetic throughout the procedure, and will top up the application so you can remain numb for the duration of your procedure.
DOES IT HURT?
Microblading is considered uncomfortable but not painful, this depends on each client’s threshold. I use anesthetic throughout the procedure and will top up the application so you can remain numb for the duration of your procedure. After the procedure, redness and slight swelling in the area are normal. Clients describe the feeling uncomfortable. Clients can take Paracetamol, but not aspirin or ibuprofen before and after.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
If you are a Suitable Client there are no long term side effects made to the area. As this a semi-permanent treatment and the area fades through time.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
It can take between 2.5hours to 3hours, this all depends on each individual and their desired results. Contributing factors include, but not limited to, skin type, age, ethnic background etc.
Client Suitability: Some clients may not be suitable for Microblading and have the option to have a separate consultation before the treatment or the option to send pictures to establish if the treatment can be done. We request that these pictures are filter-free, with no makeup on the area and un-cropped to allow us to zoom in if necessary.
Microblading is not suitable for the following candidates:
Under 18 years of age.
Pregnant or nursing clients.
Previously tattooed by another technician.
On blood thinners.
Have heart conditions or using heart medications .
Have diabetes (May require a Doctors note for Type 1)
Have skin disease or irritations .
Had Botox in the last 2 weeks *
Has had a deep tan or chemical peels in the last 2 weeks.
Using Accutane (You must have been off Accutane for at least 12 months)
Using Retinol (You must stop using Retinol 2 weeks prior to your appointment and avoid using it 2 weeks following your appointment)
Allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine or epinephrine .
Anyone who has any serious medical conditions (will require a doctor's note)
*You can get Botox & fillers 4 weeks prior to your appointment or 4 weeks after your appointment.
Please remember that Botox lifts the muscles, so we recommend you book your Botox appointment before your initial appointment. This aids with symmetry and skins firmness. If you are looking for a much higher arch or “lift” with your Microblading design, please understand that this is only achieved through a combination of Botox and cosmetic tattooing.
PREPARING FOR THE DAY:
Please use a light exfoliating scrub on the area, a maximum of 48hours before the treatment to ensure the best results for your appointment. If you do this less than 48hours you are at risk of making the area sensitive and not suitable for treatment.
Do not drink Alcohol or Caffeine for at least 24-36 hours before the procedure.
Avoid medications that will thin out the blood (Vitamin E, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, etc.) for at least 24 hours prior to your microblading appointment.
Please take ‘Paracetamol’ an hour before the treatment, however, I use anesthetic throughout the procedure, and will top up the application so you will remain numb.
You can bring along food and drink, as the appointment can take between 2.5 hours to 3 hours.
I would advise for you to bring along your headphones so you can listen to music during the treatment.
PREPARING 24HOURS BEFORE THE DAY:
Please do not drink alcohol 24 hours prior to the treatment.
Unless medically necessary, please avoid taking things that thin the blood like fish oils, Vitamin E, aspirins etc.
Where possible, try to avoid the following herbs and spices prior to your appointment: Black pepper, Cardamom, any member of the Zingiberaceae (Ginger) family, Cayenne, Cinnamon, Garlic, Horseradish, Mustard.
A patch test can be performed, unless waived by client. It is the client’s responsibility to schedule this at least 24hours prior to the procedure.
PREPARING WEEK BEFORE THE DAY:
Please do not shape your brows before the procedure, your technician will shape brows during the procdure.
No electrolysis for at least 5 days before the procedure.
Botox, AHA products and retinoids should be avoided for 2 weeks prior to the procedure.
Exfoliating treatments such as microdermabrasion should not be performed within 2 weeks prior to procedure.
Chemical and laser peels should be avoided no less than 6 weeks prior to procedure.
Patients prone to cold sores/fever blisters should take an anti-viral prior to treatment.
Hormone therapies can affect pigmentation and/or cause sensitivity.
Discontinue use of any brow-growth serums like Latisse, as it can cause sensitivity / effect pigment.
Items you will need immediately after the procedure:
Sterile gauze- Phi aftercare wipe- Bottled water - Aftercare Skin Candy Balm
Avoid getting anything on the brows, including water, except for cleansing as directed.
FIRST 7 DAYS
Same day: Right after your procedure, please gently blot your brows every hour, using sterile gauze and a little bit of bottled/distilled water, to remove any excess lymph fluids. This is very important to minimize scabbing and allow for better pigment retention! After wiping the area add a very thin layer of the Aftercare Balm.
The Aftercare Balm: should be applied 1-2 times a day. Only once the area starts to scab or flake; use sparingly, apply a super thin application of aftercare balm (which I will provide), using a clean Q-tip – morning and night. This will hydrate your brow area for dryness relief. Do not pick or rub the brows. The scabs/flakes must fall off on their own or you will risk removing the color and possibly scarring.
DO NOT GET YOUR BROWS WET FOR THE FIRST 10 DAYS!!!
THE NEXT 14 DAYS
Do not soak the treated area in the bath, pool or hot tub.
No exercise for 14 days. After 14 days – when exercising, wear a sweatband to avoid sweat on brow area.
Do not expose treated area to direct sunlight. After healed (30 days), use a sunscreen to avoid fading from the sun.
No makeup should be applied directly on the brows during the healing process. After the brows have healed (14 days, OR after the scab/skin flakes off) you may wear brow makeup at that time.
No products should touch the brows directly during healing, please avoid using daily skincare products directly on the eyebrows.
Do not touch, rub, pick or scratch your brows following treatment or during healing process.
You may find that your eyebrows will scab or become slightly dry following the treatment. If they itch, DO NO SCRATCH them. You may tap them to alleviate the itch.
If your eyebrows get wet during the healing process, pat them dry with a towel, DO NOT RUB.
THE NEXT 30 DAYS
Do not soak the treated area in the bath, pool or hot tub. For 30 days, refrain from swimming in salt water or chlorinated pools, saunas, hot yoga, steam rooms or sun beds.
If you are planning a chemical peel, or any other medical procedure, please inform therapist of the procedure you have had. Procedure should only be done once the healing process is complete.
If you are due to give blood after the procedure, please inform your nurse about the microblading treatment you have had as this might alter the results.
Please be aware that the use of antibiotics and hormonal therapy can lead to faster pigment fading.
Initially, your brows will appear more bold than usual. This is because we have enhanced the brows, deposited pigment in the skin and often times, made them appear fuller. Over the next few days after the procedure, your brows may darken during the healing process. This is normal and this is not the way they will remain.
Around 7-14 days, you may notice some flaking/shedding of the skin near the brow area. Think of this is very small “scabs” falling off the skin now that the skin underneath has healed. When the skin flakes off, many times the microblading strokes appear very light or sometimes it seems that they have disappeared. THIS IS NORMAL! This is because there is still a thick layer of protective skin creating a veil over the pigment.
Once you go through a skin cycle (4-6 weeks) the pigment will typically reappear but will be about 30-50% lighter than it was immediately after the procedure.
